Wanda Whips Wall Street DVD
Before the Wolf of Wall Street, there was Wanda!
Larry Revene, one of the best adult film cinematographers of all time, took to the director's chair for this wild and wonderful tale of sexual intrigue and economic espionage. Corporate investigator Lou Perrini (Jamie Gillis) and his assistant Ed (Ron Jeremy) set out to uncover the culprits behind this corporate crime spree. Featuring appearances by adult film legends Samantha Fox, George Payne, Sharon Mitchell, Ron Hudd, and cult favorite Sondra Hillman, this is sophisticated sex comedy as its finest.

Re: Distribpix
Figured these guys deserve a thread if VinSyn gets one. They seem to be moving towards a similar style of releasing. The Sweetheart Theatres line appears to be their version of VS's Peekarama.
The Blu-rays of The Opening of Misty Beethoven and Barbara Broadcast are still available, though apparently are close to going out of print. The other three Henry Paris/Radley Metzger films are planned for Blu-ray next year according to a recent blog post, but they have yet to decide how to release these (individually, all 3 in a box set, or all 5 in a box set).

Re: Distribpix
I'm kind of fascinated by Refn showing up to do commentaries for porn, when he didn't bother to do one for Drive- what's his connection here?

Re: Distribpix
Maybe it's like all those Soderbergh commentaries where he invites a colleague to interview him/press him for details rather than sit by himself. Lustig also owns Blue Underground and his bombastic style of filmmaking isn't far from Refn's, perhaps he's a fan or a friend?

Re: Distribpix
He may have owned the prints for these films. Something similar happened on the Flipside release for those Andy Milligan films.

Re: Distribpix
I haven't listened to them yet but Refn is helping produce a new Maniac Cop film with Lustig, so clearly he's a fan. But I think the commentaries came first as they were recorded all the way back in 2010, during the filming of Drive.
There is a podcast with Lustig and Distribpix owner Steven Morowitz here.

Re: Distribpix
There is an explanation at the end of the podcast. Lustig and Refn are long time friends and shared an apartment in NYC for 5 years, and it was during this period that Refn petitioned Lustig to gets these films out, promising to do commentaries with him if it ever happened.

Re: Distribpix
Refn also has form in helping out adventurous release programmes - the BFI Flipside series owes much of its recent output to his patronage.

Re: Distribpix
And, at least according to the Drive thread, he has done a commentary for that film but it is only on a Japanese release.

Re: Distribpix
I may partake in the Lustig stuff and the Opening of Misty Beethoven. I don't have a ton of adult stuff. I have a decent copy of Barbara Broadcast with commentary by Jamie Gillis and Beyond the Green Door. Most of the adult stuff I have was burned and sold to me by Robin Bougie of Cinema Sewer. The one movie I would like to see is The Devil in Miss Jones, but I haven't seen it for sale anywhere.

Re: Distribpix
The Devil in Miss Jones is available on DVD at adult-film-friendly e-tailers like TLA Video and CD Universe. It's one of the more unique and ambitious films from the golden age of hard-core and is definitely worth seeing, though my preference is for Misty Beethoven. Metzger's Score is also wonderful.

Unless they've remastered it in the last decade, the DVD of The Devil in Miss Jones is truly atrocious quality.ianthemovie wrote:The Devil in Miss Jones is available on DVD at adult-film-friendly e-tailers like TLA Video and CD Universe. Re: Distribpix
Yes, my DVD copy is pretty terrible but until someone should decide to remaster it it's the only available option. Sadly, it's typical of the quality of adult films available on DVD. Many look no better than a VHS tape. Misty Beethoven, Score and Boys in the Sand have undergone extensive restorations in recent years but my assumption is that very, very few other adult films will be seen as important enough to warrant that kind of preservation work going forward.

Re: Distribpix
Anyone know of a good place to get the Misty Beethoven Blu? Distribpix looks to have it direct, but their international shipping is a bit high. Everywhere else it seems to be unavailable.
