Re: Freemantle / Mediumrare Entertainment
Mediumrare Entertainment is delighted to announce the acquisation of some of Hong Kong's finest martial arts films to be released through 2015. Plans are still to be ironed out but most of the titles will be restored in high definition from original 35mm masters and will be available in Bluray and limited edition steelbook, these movies will never have looked so good! Some highlights from the newly acquired titles are, Fist of Fury, Game of Death, The Way of the Dragon, The Big Boss, When Taekwondo Strikes, Armour of God, and the infamous Riki-Oh - The Story of Ricky.
Restored in high definition from original 35mm masters sounds great but, although I'm crossing my fingers, based on past treatment of these titles that also contained similar promises I can't say I'm massively hopeful. Their RIKI-OH blu-ray is coming out June 8, it's less than a tenner on Amazon at the moment so I'm probably going to pre-order it but I'm still anticipating it being an SD up-scale like the American release.

Re: Freemantle / Mediumrare Entertainment
Has anyone had any positive experiences with any MediumRare BluRay releases they can report?
I've been anxiously awaiting Peter Greenaway's "Drowning By Numbers" on BluRay for years, and the reviews I've found of MediumRare's other BluRay releases have not been encouraging. Such a shame if Sacha Vierny's cinematography and Greenaway's composition don't get their due here. BFI has done such a beautiful job with "A Zed & Two Noughts" that I'm sorry they aren't in charge of this one.

Just noticed the company has released a collector's edition of The Last Temptation of Christ but haven't found any information about the specs and extras. Anyone know more about this?

Re: Freemantle / Mediumrare Entertainment
The Standard Edition is at a really good price and beats foreign releases for PQ and on-disc extras (commentary and documentary), but the film itself is cut for horsefalls, which I didn't know about until purchasing. I will probably import the German release, which has English subtitles too.
It appears that it was not resubmitted to the BBFC and they re-used the prior classification. Weirdly it seems the film was uncut in the cinema in 1970.
