Oh that would be great. I actually owned the US release and it was AMAZINGLY bad. I still own Moon in the Gutter, which looks like it came from the gutter as well. Where is fricking Diva already?

What's that? Weren't they using the anchor bay commentary? Both?
Second Sight has just confirmed that both commentaries will be included.
...and I now have a checkdisc, complete with both commentaries - so that's 100% definite.

For those that care, I can confirm that The Long Riders looks superior to the MGM BD and I quite enjoyed the longer Fiction Factory pieces by Robert Fischer. For me, the cleaner picture and the extras (the US BD didn't have any if I recall correctly) outweigh the missing 4 seconds of a horse falling. Hope that whoever owns The Driver in the UK releases it with the same care as Second Sight have done with their Walter Hill titles, and that eventually they'll do Hard Times as I'm not buying that Twilight Time disc.

Want to give a quick shout out to the new blu-ray of The Brood, it looks absolutely fantastic. (as does the earlier knockout disc of Scanners!) So so happy to see the film on this format, one of my favorites of Cronenberg, surely his cruelest and saddest film. Have always thought of Mark Irwin's cinematography for Cronenberg as kind of a Gunnar Fischer to Peter Suschitzky's Sven Nykvist -- equally brilliant and unique. Still hoping someday for a complete music soundtrack of Howard Shore's amazing score. Any chance of Second Sight will be giving Shivers or Rabid the same treatment?

I love the fact that they're bringing out The Brood and Possession at almost the same time, although a double bill would take some sitting through.

Aren't there rumours that Criterion might be releasing The Brood? I'll buy the Second Sight release if a CC version isn't forthcoming this year.

The Brood is coming from Criterion, along with Scanners.

Wouldn't be surprised to see one or both announced on Monday

For the "Quest For Fire" BD, digitalfix and dvdactive say it has dts-HD MA 5.1, while bluraydefinition says it has a lossy dts 5.1 track.

Which is correct?

Cine Outsider also writes that it has dts-HD MA 5.1.

UPDATE: The guy on the Blu-ray forums posted an apology because he (major) issues were not with Second Sight's Creepshow Blu-ray, but his video card settings:
Okay, I owe a few of you a massive apology here (including Second Sight). I recently performed a driver update for my ATI card (last week I think) and unlike the nVidia drivers I've been used to for years it activated a bunch of video-processing junk (as mentioned in the Lifeforce thread), some of which related to DNR and contrast boosting. It never even occurred to me to check the ATI control panel after performing and update (nVidia drivers just keep your previous settings), but it's clear now that these 'enhancements' made the video playback and subsequent caps look worse than they actually do. There are still differences between the US and UK release - the most obvious being the brightness, as is the case with a number of SS's ports of US discs - but they are not as severe as I first thought (but they are there).
And he updated his screenshot comparison

Streets Of Fire BD review by BlurayDefinition

Betty Blue BD review by DVDactive

Looks like this is the best Betty Blue BD on the market currently. Both cuts, new making-of documentary, although previous extras from other editions are gone.

I still contend that the ending of Million Dollar Baby is far less annoying and much more amusing when seen as a homage to the ending of Betty Blue!

digital fix review of Heaven's Gate
The reviewer says the extras are much better than the Criterion, though the movie had to be cut by 59 seconds.

bluraydefinition on "A Hard Day's Night"

Same source as the Criterion, both audio and video, slightly differing and less extras though.
