Grass was supposed to come out a couple of days ago. I wonder if it got delayed?

Grass shows up as "Pending" for me on the order page, probably covid-related delays...

With the heartening acquisition/release of Yourself and Yours, I hope we will see something similar with Hill of Freedom, a personal favorite. (Whoops, just saw that Grasshopper has acquired the Hill of Freedom rights!)

It definitely came out, they posted a picture on instagram 4 days ago. I am going to place a direct order, as BestBuy finally cancelled my order yesterday.

The menu screens they posted on Instagram revealed that the disc includes Hong’s 2011 short List, which I don’t think we knew before.

I preordered this from Cinema Guild ages ago -- and have not gotten any shipping notice (and my order history still says "pending"). :-(

That's weird, the instagram post said in stock and shipping. I guess I will just wait couple of weeks before I place an order. on another note, I am so glad that Cinema Guild is all about Hong now-a-days. I just hope they are ready to do the right thing now by releasing a The Day He Arrives blu-ray. I had a spat with them back in 2012 on their decision to release a DVD only. I do have the Korean release and I am happy with it, but wouldn't hesitate to double dip if they decide to release one now.

OTOH - My previous order from Cinema Guild (which arrived a year ago) is STILL listed as "pending" on my order page - so who knows. ;-)

Yeah, just checked my account and my three 2019 orders are still showing up as pending.

The Amazon website shows the Blu Ray as unavailable. However, I received a notification from Amazon that the Blu Ray pf "Grass" will be delivered to me by 14-16 May. I had pre-ordered it when it was first posted by them and were taking orders.

I don't see any contact info for Cinema Guild on its website.

Last year, I called (800) 723-5522 and talked to a guy in NY when I had a similar problem with The Day After.

Grass came -- unheralded -- today (but the other film I ordered with it didn't -- so I tried the toll-free number and got an answer). ;-)

From the Variety review
If you’re looking for Ozu-like qualities in Schanelec’s film beyond the title’s obvious hat-tip to the Japanese master’s 1932 silent “I Was Born, But…,” you may come away even more perplexed: Beyond a common, delicate-handed interest in quiet domestic friction, the directorial similarities don’t exactly announce themselves.

Reminder that Michael K confirmed CG's blu of Grass has Hong's best film, the 20-minute List, as an extra despite not listed as such on their site. I would pay $20 for that film alone, and it'll easily be making my 2010s list. Also, for what it's worth, Beeswax is one of the best mumblecore films, and The Wild Pear Tree is far and away my favorite Ceylan with a monster making-of doc, tho I haven't seen that yet to attest to its quality

Yep. both Grass+List and Wild Pear Tree are quite wonderful discs (the latter has all sorts of "making of" stuff I haven't begun to explore).

Went ahead and ordered the new release of Andrew Bujalski’s Beeswax, a film I remembered loving when I saw it ten years ago. More than anything, I was incredibly surprised to see Jia’s Still Life is now out on Blu-ray and happily purchased that. I also haven’t seen it in about ten years, but recall it being another one of Jia’s best films from his incredible streak between Xiao Wu and Touch of Sin. I actually think about the A Better Tomorrow scene once every few months as a sort of realistic and hilarious depiction of cinema’s effect on regular people.

Can anyone tell me if Cinema Guild still ship internationally (Australia)? There doesn't seem any way to figure this out short of creating an account. Cheers.

Has anyone picked up the new DVD version of The Hole? I'm curious as to whether it's enough of an improvement on the old Fox Lorber DVD to make it worth picking up (though it's hard to imagine it could be worse).

They do (I am in Melbourne). But you have to email them to place an order and then they send you a payment link. They use tracked shipping only which is about US$5 a title on average.
