Thankfully, I was able to get things going by wiping my browser cache, disabling adblock, and restarting the computer. Frustrating to have to do that, though. Still having troubles airstreaming from my iPhone - can't seem to get subtitles to turn off.

I also had the spinning wheel (=buffering) problem, but after updating Adobe Flash I was able to watch Cairo Station without any problems (on MacBook with Firefox).

I keep waiting for this to come to Roku and then I'll give the free trial a spin. Any idea when this may happen. For months, the website has just said "Coming Soon" (or something to that effect).

These are some of the more interesting titles in the forthcoming Filmstruck-side sections (the entries have been added to the site, but the films aren't available just yet (probably tomorrow or next week)):

Jean Jacques Beineix
Betty Blue (also on Criterion Channel)
Diva
The Moon in the Gutter
Locked-in Syndrome

Bergman
All of the Early Bergman titles
Hour of the Wolf (also on Criterion Channel)
The Passion of Anna (also on Criterion Channel)
Scenes from a Marriage (also on Criterion Channel)

Getting Home (Zhang Yang)

There's also another new placeholder section for "Directed by Costa-Gavras," which I'm curious to see if it will extend beyond the three Criterion titles already up (to add Missing, maybe, or more?)

Diva is long overdue. This used to be one of those ubiquitous foreign films that always existed in a video stores selection. Its currency may have fallen, but it remains a great film.

Moon in the Gutter was actually out on BD in the worst tranfer you could imagine, literally could not get worse.

Would love some physical releases.

The Long Good Friday went up recently. I presume that the transfer that was used, having just read the reviews for the Arrow release, isn't from a recent 2K restoration?

i watched it in january, actually, and it was at least not a non-anamorphic transfer, but it didn't seem like a sparkling new harvest.

Initially got excited about Otaku since the runtime is listed at the full 2h 48m only available on unsubtitled foreign language releases. Alas, playback revealed it to be the shorter 1h 17m version.

Man I had such trouble last night trying to stream big deal on madonna street that I eventually gave up and left it unfinished. Buffering, constant out of sync problems that got progressively worse until you restarted the computer (like five seconds out of sync and then sudden bursts of fast motion as it tried to correct only to still be a second or two off.

I wish the service worked like a modern streaming company rather than a vintage 2007 approach to streaming where trying to stream is as inconvenient as possible.

Knock on wood - my last 3 showings this morning have played straight through without a spinning wheel buffer - Superbia (short), Otaku, and This Sporting Life. In aggregate, it's still a hit and miss type situation.

I understand it's something you've had a problem with semi-regularly, but I wouldn't judge any streaming service on the night of a major northeast snowstorm. Until relatively recently even Netflix would be crippled as everyone's stuck inside streaming from the same providers. Last night may have been a particularly bad time to watch such that all the problems were magnified because of this.

Last night I was browsing through some of the supplements in the Criterion Collection. Certainly a treasure for film lovers.
And I noticed that there are many documentaries, sometimes by great filmmakers, that are interesting films in their own right. Examples are Tokyo-ga and Chambre 12 by Wim Wenders (supplements to Ozu's Late Spring and Godard's Breathless, respectively), Shindo's 150 min Kenji Mizoguchi docu (suppl. to Mizoguchi's Ugetsu), or You Speak of Prague by Chris Marker (suppl. to Costa-Gavras' The Confession)
It might be a good idea to make those films somehow more visible. Don't get me wrong - I think they have their place in the supplement section, but a search for Wim Wenders for example should also bring up the documentaries mentioned above.
The same applies to shorts or feature-length films that are part of the supplements. I'm thinking of Kiarostami's The Report and The Traveler (suppl. to Certified Copy and Close-Up, respectively), Rosi's Neapolitan Diary (suppl. to Hands Over the City) or the Demy shorts (suppl. to Lola).
Maybe a list similar to the "Films with Commentaries" page in the Help Center would do the trick.
