According to Michael's Movie Mayhem, Gillo Pontecorvo's Burn! went OOP.

Good....as much as I love the film, that MGM DVD was an atrocity.HypnoHelioStaticStasis wrote:According to Michael's Movie Mayhem, Gillo Pontecorvo's Burn! went OOP....

Re: The OOP Heads-Up Thread
It seems that nearly every MGM OOP disc is available at "oldies.com" as part of a big clearance deal...in addition to the MGM Bergman box for $12.98, which is insane.
http://www.oldies.com/collection-view/2 ... y-Fox.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I can't vouch for the site, but I know it's been around for awhile. I waded in for a bit, but didn't look at everything...but still saw a lot of the titles mentioned in this thread.

Re: The OOP Heads-Up Thread
Bear in mind that the Bergman set at $12.95 could be the original version of the set as released with aspect ratio problems. The set was re-released with corrected ratios. I was thinking of buying it, but noticed that the UPC code matched that of the faulty set as indicated on DVD Beaver's page on the set. It's still a good deal but I would prefer to have the proper versions.
I suppose you could buy the set and if it's got the wrong AR's on the 2 or 3 problems discs, replace them individually...

Re: The OOP Heads-Up Thread
I've used oldies.com for the first time about 2 weeks ago, even though the design of their homepage made some red flags go up, i gave it a shot and ordered the Budd Boetticher set that was only 20$. I already got the DVDs and there were no problems. They even wrote 12$ outside the package, which was nice customs wise.HistoryProf wrote:It seems that nearly every MGM OOP disc is available at "oldies.com" as part of a big clearance deal...in addition to the MGM Bergman box for $12.98, which is insane.

Re: The OOP Heads-Up Thread
There has been discussion about this over at DVDTalk. People who have purchased the set from oldies before say that it is the corrected set.bugsy_pal wrote:Bear in mind that the Bergman set at $12.95 could be the original version of the set as released with aspect ratio problems. It looks like the boxset on sale at Oldies.com is the corrected one. The UPC code listed there matches with the corrected UPC posted on Beaver.

It's still available in the Gary Cooper set with Man of the West and Along Came Jones though.

True, and of course, Along Came Jones is also OOP, so it's a sweet deal

Re: The OOP Heads-Up Thread
While the film isn't out of print, it should be noted that the new edition of Once Upon a Time in the West issued by Paramount drops all the supplements. The new edition is a single disc budget dvd with MSRP $9.98
I guess I can add the Leone film to my wishlist of others from Paramount like 1900, Conformist and Zodiac of titles that Criterion should license even though special editions had been previously available.I believe the Paramount disc was the american edit of the film? From what I understand Leone's cut has never been released in North America. Apparently Scorsese's Film Foundation restored the international cut back in 2007.

The American DVDs are the 165 min international version rather than the 145 one which has completely disappeared for about a decade.

Re: The OOP Heads-Up Thread
I've wondered if that single amaray of Once Upon A Time in the West was just a repackaging of the two disc SE I have in the double amaray...but I guess not? It's completely barebones?

Ball of Fire is listed as in print but it appears to be OOP and going for $30+ at Amazon. I wonder, is it too much to dream that Criterion licensed it and A Song is Born for a Killers-esque double-feature?

Not going to happen. Except for OMG LOL Japanese horror flicks, Criterion hates fun movies now.
