Anyone care to lay odds as to whether Criterion will get around to upgrading this to blu at some point in the not-too distant future? I'm itching to buy the French import but fear I'd soon wind up triple-dipping yet again.carax09 wrote:and I can't even watch Renoir in 1080p.
You can, though! The new(ish) French Cancan disc is playable worldwide, and is as soul-stirringly beautiful as one could've hoped.

Re: Quality films on Blu-ray
Depends on whether Elena and her Men goes oop or not I guess? The Stage and Spectacle box upgraded might not make enough money before Elena goes oop for them to bother upgrading it just yet... But then, who knows what's going on with Studio Canal right now.
But yeah, boxsets, other than the special case of Brakhage, haven't been upgraded, so I don't think we'll see this one soon. Plus, it has a perfect region free Blu already, so I dunno if Criterion will want to release this as one of their first couple of upgraded Renoirs...
My guess? 2013.
