Devil's Backbone was also SPC on top of those (though I think Long Day Closes came from Film4).

Sony's home video press release states they are releasing it on Blu-Ray.

Somebody should tell Amazon, Target, Best Buy, and Barnes & Noble, as they all only have the DVD available for pre-order.

I'd assume that someone will in due time, I wouldn't worry about it if it's in the press release unless something is announced to the contrary

My larger point from above was that SPC titles seem to definitely not be part of Criterion's deal for their first run on home video - after some period of time they eventually fall back in, but the releases are sparse and missing some other titles you'd assume Criterion would jump on in a heartbeat if they were given access. There were more examples than I thought, so I'm sorry for the slight exaggeration of the truth above, but I'd really not expect to see this whatsoever (and, due to it being put out by SPC, it'll be like $25 minimum if you want it anytime near release)

So... Sony is releasing their biggest foreign film release in who knows how long on BD-R only it was revealed today, which seems like a huge confirmation this is coming from Criterion soon

Better be - no way in hell I'm paying for a BD-R.

Ew. Hopefully Criterion will not only release the film, they'll use the gorgeous theatrical poster for the cover.

And, blurbs and stars aside, that's a much better cover (but what isn't?)

I'm curious as to whether anyone is familiar with Plain Archive's Blu-ray of this. It looks like it came out in 2022. Does anyone happen to know whether it's a pressed disc, and whether the English subtitles are good? (And is the booklet really only in Korean?)

I would definitely expect the booklet to only come in Korean since it explicitly says so in parentheses. Do you think it's a lie or a joke?

It looks like there's some English text on the back of the booklet in one of the pictures of the packaging, which made me wonder. And we all know that specifications listed online--about special features, region-coding, run times, pretty much anything--are often flat-out wrong. If anyone actually has a copy of this and can weigh in, I'd appreciate it!

Plain Archive is a good label and actually produce great discs, encoding wise especially. The discs I got from them were pressed and made in Germany. I’m confident this is still true as I’ve only recently received their Christian Petzold BD set, which is gorgeous. The booklet is likely Korean.

That's helpful; thank you!
