Marat/Sade is on Filmstruck? I can't see it.
Marat/Sade was removed on February 10 together with some other Glenda Jackson films.
I'm recommending the Movies Leaving FilmStruck page in the Help Center https://help.filmstruck.com/hc/en-us/ar ... FilmStruck. They update this list every Friday and give you basically a two months warning. Time enough to watch your favorite movie. They also indicate Criterion titles that will leave FilmStruck but stay on the CC Channel. Good to know for people with a CC subscription. Errors occur, but in general it works well.

Before they expire tomorrow, you all should watch Decline of Western Civilization, either part 1 or part 2. Part 1 is a gritty gem from the basement of terrible music. part 2 is a glossy jewel from a top tier of great music, and it's amazing to see the oscillation between the two, and sure, a lot of the artists in part II are "performing" their public personas for the cameras, but that is sort of part of the fun, particularly in contrast to Ozzy and the handful of people who are more authentic and open.

Also, Wattstax is outstanding, great Richard Prior comedy bits, great performances/music, fantastic editing, beautiful images of south central los angeles in the 70s.

Regardless, it looked horrible, including combing artifacts and other nasties. I don't know the disc, but something went wrong here.

Looking forward to some of those Aki Kaurismäki films.

Snooze you lose. I started watching part 1 yesterday and loved it - right up until they pulled it when I was around 1/8th to the end. I liked how she started to focus on the audience toward the end, especially Eugene, who had the opening monologue...

That's stupid punk rock, I don't... I just think of it as rock and roll because that's what it is. You know.

What do you like about it.

Well I like that it's like something new and it's just reviving like old rock and roll. And it's like it's raw again and it's for real and it's fun. And, you know. It's like, it's not bullshit, there's no rock stars now you know.

Flowers of St. Francis was on Hulu, so it might've been already on the Criterion Channel too. Possibly the Les Blank also.

I've watched almost all of the Ross McElwee documentaries and am in the middle of Six O'Clock News, and he's doing something with his narration on one channel and the video sound on the other, and it's distracting and impossible to follow. The best part of his documentaries is when he takes over the narration, and during an interview segment, he's talking to the reporter interviewing him and his narration is going on at the same time and you can't make out what he's saying (subtitles show the interview dialogue).

Justwatch, which used to be so useful, is on a roll - listing Sword of Doom, The Shooting, and Young Torless as new Filmstruck listings, which of course they are not. Even the 3 listed as new before this - Flowing, Simon of the Desert, and a Les Blank doc is incorrectly showing as new. And the 7 before that are incorrect also. April 8 seems to be the last sane posting.

Are there any Chromecast 2 users here who are either happy or unhappy with the way this device accesses Filmstruck/Criterion Channel? (Or should this be posted elsewhere?)

I use the Chromecast 2 for Filmstruck and I'm mostly happy. There are a few bugs that can cause annoyance: one being that pausing from my android device sometimes causes sync issues--based on some experimenting I believe this is caused by one device not registering the pause correctly and continuing to run the timer for the sound file. Occasionally I've experienced a few videos that would not load on the chromecast, though a few days later I'll try again and everything works fine.

If one has to rely on wi-fi (as opposed to a wired connection) is there any better alternative to Chromecast 2?

I haven't personally tried Filmstruck, yet, with my Amazon Fire Stick in the USA but that could be another option for you, depending on the price between the two devices. You're essentially just installing the Filmstruck app via the Fire Stick, but I don't know how smooth Filmstruck's app interface is on it. I guess with the free trial there's really no excuse for me not to try it now that it's been available for a while.
