Very quick point regarding price differences for 2K vs 4K scan : I've just had the answer from Eclair and at their lab, a 4K scan is 15% more expensive than a 2K one for a given movie.

---
We're not sure where you got your information, but 4K scans usually cost twice as much as 2K scans and sometimes more. If this is true, we will contact this company as see if we could set an account with them at these rates.
We will start posting updates an announcements here like we do on two other forums.

I'll consider Nixon if they manage to include both the theatrical and extended cuts of the movie. Otherwise, I'm still fine holding to my current Blu-ray.dwk wrote: ↑Thu Jun 21, 2018 9:03 pmKino Insider posted a list of their remaining, unannounced Touchstone titles over at the blu-ray.com forum.Last week we announced the remaining ABC and Selznick titles - To put a stop to all these speculations, we're sharing the list of the remaining/unannounced Touchstone/Hollywood titles currently under license to KL - some will be released as special editions, others regular (with maybe one extra or none) and some we'll most likely not release, at least not for a while.

The Trip to Bountiful (1985) with optional English subtitles
A richly textured and triumphant tale of an elderly woman's journey home, The Trip to Bountiful stars Geraldine Page (What Ever Happened to Aunt Alice?) in the performance of a lifetime and a role that won her an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Funny, adventurous and suspenseful, The Trip to Bountiful is perfect on just about every level and is a demonstration of the human spirit. Directed with flair by Graham Baker (Alien Nation) and packed with pulse-quickening twists that spring from its terrific premise, Impulse generates enough electricity to make your hair stand on end. When Jennifer (Tilly) and her boyfriend Stuart (Matheson) return to her idyllic hometown, they discover that all boundaries of civility seem to have eroded. Mystified by the actions of normally kind townspeople who are suddenly driven to extremes of irrational—and violent—behavior, Jennifer and Stuart attempt to get to the bottom of the increasingly life-threatening chaos... before it destroys them.

Trapeze (1956) with optional English subtitles
• Audio Commentary by Film Historian Kat Ellinger
• Trailers for Trapeze, Elmer Gantry, Taras Bulba, Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell
Screen icons Burt Lancaster (Elmer Gantry), Tony Curtis (The Vikings) and Gina Lollobrigida (Woman of Straw) form a troubled love triangle in the realistic, suspenseful film shot in the actual Cirque d’Hiver in Paris. Young American acrobat Tino Orsini (Curtis) is an aspiring trapeze artist who comes to Paris in search of Mike Ribble (Lancaster), a former aerialist who has retired after injuring himself attempting a triple somersault. Mike agrees to teach Tino the triple after circus performer Rosa O’Flynn (Katy Jurado, One-Eyed Jacks) convinces him to stop feeling sorry for himself and try to recapture some of the fame that eluded him. But when two men both fall in love with the beautiful Lola (Lollobrigida) – who uses them both to further her own ambitions – the triangle threatens the dreams of them all. Trapeze, directed by the great Carol Reed (The Third Man, The Fallen Idol) is highlighted by great performances and high drama, and all the actors performed most of their own stunts (Lancaster had previously been an acrobat in real life). Two of the film’s best features are the terrific Scope photography by Robert Krasker (El Cid, Brief Encounter) and the hauntingly beautiful score by Malcolm Arnold (The Bridge on the River Kwai). The wonderful Thomas Gomez (Key Largo) co-stars in this classic romantic drama.
Loretta Young (The Stranger) is The Farmer’s Daughter – blonde, brash and so hilariously heartwarming that she won the 1948 Academy Award® for Best Actress in a Leading Role. As Katrin, she romps through one uproarious romantic adventure after another, an independent farm girl who becomes a politician and captures the heart of a Congressman along the way. The outrageous antics begin when Katrin, fresh from the farm, arrives in Capitol City ready to take on the metropolis. She takes the very first job she can find: housemaid in the wealthy home of urbane Congressman Glenn Morley, charmingly played by Joseph Cotten (Portrait of Jennie). But she’s no sooner tied the apron strings around her waist than she’s running for Congress. To complicate matters further, Morley is developing a case of infatuation for Katrin – and it’s looking like love that knows no political bounds. Directed by H. C. Potter (Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House) and co-starring Ethel Barrymore (The Spiral Staircase), Charles Bickford (The Big Country) and Harry Davenport (The Ox-Bow Incident). Bickford was nominated for the Best Actor in a Supporting Role Academy Award®.

Re: Kino Lorber Studio Classics Acquisitions
Found out a little more about the Universal deal: Kino has licensed 100 titles with the earliest coming from 1932 and the most recent coming from 2009. Sadly, no Universal silents are part of the deal but the possibility that the pre-1948 Paramount catalog is part of the titles helps offset the disappointment; gotta take the bitter with the sweet.

Oh thank god! Universal has WAY too many great films sitting in their library that have never even seen DVD releases. If Kino can drop Play It As It Lays, Portrait of a Downfall Child, Diary of a Mad Housewife, Hellzapoppin’, of any number of these lingering titles I’ll snap them up in a heartbeat.

I really hope they don’t end up being the ones to release The Lost Weekend...

Re: Kino Lorber Studio Classics Acquisitions
Not even the new restoration of THE MAN WHO LAUGHS, the unrestored version of which Kino released some years back? Or is that part of another Kino/Universal deal?AfterTheRain wrote: ↑Fri Jul 13, 2018 1:18 amFound out a little more about the Universal deal: Kino has licensed 100 titles with the earliest coming from 1932 and the most recent coming from 2009.
