The Appaloosa (1966) with optional English subtitles
• Audio Commentary by Lee Pfeiffer, Publisher of Cinema Retro Magazine with Film Historian Paul Scrabo
• Reversible Art
• Theatrical Trailer
(1966) Color 98 Minutes 2.35:1 Not Rated
Southwest to Sonora rode the lustful, the lawless… living on the edge of violence! Screen icon Marlon Brando (The Missouri Breaks, On the Waterfront) stars in a tale of vengeance against a Mexican bandito and his gang of pistoleros. Matt Fletcher (Brando) has killed many men and sinned against many women. Vowing to give up his sordid past, he returns to his sleepy hometown on the Mexican border with a magnificent Appaloosa stallion. His hopes to start a horse ranch take a deadly turn when the Appaloosa is stolen by the sadistic bandit Chuy (John Saxon, Enter the Dragon, Queen of Blood), who controls the land with his bloodthirsty gang. Seeking revenge, Fletcher disguises himself as a Mexican and trails the gang back to their village. Barely escaping death, he flees with not only his horse, but also Chuy’s beautiful lover, Trini (Anjanette Comer, The Baby, Guns for San Sebastian). When the relentless Chuy stalks Fletcher across the desert into the snow-capped mountains in a final showdown, only one man will leave with the woman, the Appaloosa… and his life. Directed by Sidney J. Furie (The Ipcress File, The Taking of Beverly Hills) with a screenplay by James Bridges (The China Syndrome) and Roland Kibbee (The Midnight Man), based on a novel by Robert MacLeod (100 Rifles). Beautifully shot in Scope by Russell Metty (Spartacus) and co-starring Emilio Fernández (The Wild Bunch) and Frank Silvera (Valdez Is Coming).

The Pink Panther Cartoon Collection Vol. 4 (1971-1975)
• 22 shorts in chronological order (63-84) - All with original audio (no laugh tracks)
• Audio commentaries for 12 selected shorts, by author Mark Arnold, historian Jerry Beck, filmmaker Greg Ford and cartoon writer William Hohauser
• Pink Patter with Art Leonardi (14:53)

Color 138 Minutes 1.33:1 Not Rated
Having established himself as a bone fide TV star in 1969-70, the Pink Panther returns to the fine art of making theatrical shorts in 1971. Helping the Panther recapture his silver-screen luster are established directors Hawley Pratt (A FLY IN THE PINK), Gerry Chiniquy (SALMON PINK, PINK AYE), and Art Davis (PINK TUBA-DORE). Joining their ranks are veteran Warners helmer Robert McKimson (PINK DA VINCI) and artful behind-the-scenes DePatie-Freleng multi-tasker Art Leonardi (PINK PLASMA, PINK CAMPAIGN). Still in touch with the Temper of the Times, the Panther amusingly tackles a few then-trending 1970s topics such as environmentalism and animal-rights advocacy.

We're very sad to be losing a great partner in FilmStruck and hope the void it leaves will be filled, but as this ScreenCrush article notes, when it comes to the classics "your best bet is still the same uncool choice it’s been for the last 20 years: Discs."

Does anyone know what's happening with Kino's blu-ray of Charly?
It was originally due for summer release, but there haven't been any

Not having to go to Ain't It Cool News to get basic details like the name of the film makes things easier. Just a friendly suggestion.

I love SWEET CHARITY, and I hope Kino doesn't get rid of the film's original 4.0 surround sound mix. A 5.1 mix would be a nice addition, so long as the disc also has the original soundtrack, as it was intended to be heard in theaters. The 4.0 was available on the DVD release, and it's a great historical document.

Will these be released on Blu-ray at some point? I already purchased The Hitch-Hiker Blu from five years back (and every other release of the film, I think) but would love to see the new 4K restoration.Kino Insider wrote: ↑Fri Nov 02, 2018 1:18 pmIda Lupino at 100!
