Which (decidedly modern, non-1962) skyline did they add to the background there?

If we're talking bad then how about his? To be added to the "Dying of an Illness Genre".

What the hell? This looks like something I would have made in Middle School Art class. Wood carving and the like.

Open Photoshop

Filters>Emboss

And now to wait for the Blu-Ray.com folks to send me their collective wallet.

It isn't even embossed, which is what I thought they were going for here.

That may be the only appropriately homoerotic thing about the whole film.

Reminds me of that ghastly "Fun & Flirty" DVD edition cover for 13 Going On 30 from fifteen years ago.

Love how the oversized novelty lollypop is floating in space between Garner's fingers.

What's the deal with Jason Reitman movies and terrible covers?

Even the cover for Young Adult is a better idea than it is in execution, and still features that unfortunate trademark windowboxing thing:

Oh c'mon, that and Juno are fine, and the others are just uninspired, not bad

It's much better than the covers above, but that doesn't answer why he's (I realize he isn't designing these, but that makes this an even stranger coincidence) so in love with putting an image in a box with color (or white) around it

We need a ::kogonada essay to explore this deeper. "We see an image boxed in. But what are screens but boxes of images? Walls. Sides. Boxes. Image inside. Walls. Sides. Boxes. Image inside."

Are they trying to market this as "family friendly"? Or are they trying to market it as a '70s exploitation film? Or are they, in the creepiest possible way, aiming for both markets at once?
