That certainly sounds to be the case.

Re: Shout! Factory / Scream Factory
Shout! Factory is having a 4K UHD sale on their site right now, with some great deals. Too bad I just picked up most of these for almost twice the price!

Re: Shout! Factory / Scream Factory
Where are you seeing that? They sent out an email that shows it with a banner that reads "fewer than 100 copies remaining" beneath it, but that banner is introducing the next section of the email. The page simply lists the title as "in stock." I believe if there were fewer than 100 copies remaining, the exact count would show up there

Re: Shout! Factory / Scream Factory
Oops Swo you’re absolutely correct! I misread the email, the “less than 100” was instead referring to the titles underneath the Tokusatsu set - Blood of the Vampire, School Spirit, The Evil That Men Do, Big Bad Mama/Big Bad Mama 2.

101 Films just put out Fear City for those who are region free and want to get the sub-par Ferrara without going through Shout!'s site direct

But have they fixed the aspect ratio on the second cut?

Re: Shout! Factory / Scream Factory
They've been doing weird print runs for these for a while, I assume they are actually pressing 1750 or 1800 discs and holding the remaining for exchanges.
Given how much the previous site exclusive is going for, I dont know why this isn't getting a wide release (other than Shout being Shout and doing everything possible to piss off people.)

Re: Shout! Factory / Scream Factory
An early impression of the new Fear City disc from a Blu-ray.com post
Some huge changes with the new release. Does appear to be a new transfer. Does not appear stretched. Looks very organic. Original shout disc was 1.57:1 aspect ratio, this one is 1:85:1. Checked the first Unrated scene and the quality is just as good as the rest of the film, no VHS quality.

Re: Shout! Factory / Scream Factory
It's now apparently coming back in-print? There's a pre-order up on Orbit for cheap with an 8/27 street date listed, though I can't find any announcement elsewherehearthesilence wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 1:02 amI didn't realize this had fallen out-of-print - new copies now go for at least $300.hearthesilence wrote: ↑Wed Oct 22, 2014 8:56 pmThe new complete set of Pee-Wee's Playhouse apparently has all-new transfers.
I wish I caught this show when it aired, I've had a few people tell me in my college years that I would've loved it. FWIW, J. Hoberman reviewed the set in the NYTimes. What a lot of people don't realize is, the show was shot on film. But it's never been seen on film — we'd shoot it and immediately transfer it to tape, then we'd edit it on tape and add the effects in on tape. The whole thing is then put on a "broadcast tape," for airing. You lose information and clarity the more you dupe, so in some cases, we're talking six generations of loss. We've cleaned all that up. I've spent over a year in a lab helping the folks putting this out with color corrections, helping them find the right source material for some of the effects — many of which they recreated from scratch for the Blu-rays. The amount of work that went into this was huge.

Re: Shout! Factory / Scream Factory
The Delta Force is semi-sleazy right wing propaganda but it has some nice moments to it, and a theme by Alan Silvestri that reminds me much more of the Indianapolis 500 than this, but it works as giving Chuck Norris some shine even if it is all a keyboard-afire rock explosion like most movie music was around this time. Uncharacteristic of the bombast in his other Hollywood hits but effective, even with the dramatic theme at the end.

Re: Shout! Factory / Scream Factory
Semi-sleazy? The film literally has Robert Forster in brown face separating Jewish hostages from non-Jewish and then George Kennedy as a priest defending some sort of messy definition of "Judeo-Christian" values. It's a very ridiculous piece of right-wing propaganda that looses its effectiveness due to Chuck Norris's black hole of charisma and the ridiculousness of the whole thing. I'm a little surprised that a studio would re-release a film like this now.flyonthewall2983 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2024 4:07 pmThe Delta Force is semi-sleazy right wing propaganda but it has some nice moments to it

Re: Shout! Factory / Scream Factory
The other half of sleazy by my definition would be unnecessary female nudity of which this has none (I think), otherwise you’d be right to see it as an abomination of a genre picture. It’s just something I remember not that different from cartoons or other schlock I'd watch as a kid on basic cable. This was on TBS a lot.

Re: Shout! Factory / Scream Factory
It's such a weird movie, too. On the one hand, it seems to want to be a serious thriller based on the hijacking of TWA flight 847, starring actors like Hannah Schygulla, Shelley Winters, Robert Forster, etc. On the other hand, the last 30 minutes is Chuck Norris riding around on a futuristic motorbike with mounted rocket launchers shooting Arabs. The Elegant Dandy Fop wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2024 4:50 pmSemi-sleazy? Finally, "a little order around here!" Will buy for the 3rd time. Would love to have a bonus feature with O'Quinn talking about the film, but it seems like he has tried to distance himself from this role. A shame because he's brilliant in it.therewillbeblus wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 10:54 amNice to see this get some parental attention in time for the holidays!

Re: Shout! Factory / Scream Factory
Glad to see Doomsday in that list. I'm a fan of that film which is perhaps best described as Escape From New York-meets-28 Days Later-meets-Mad Max, with a really nice late performance by Bob Hoskins and a to be expected scenery chewing one from Malcolm McDowell!
